mountains in southeastern California north of the Mojave Desert running east–west between the southern end of the Sierra Nevada and the Coast Ranges
Note: The highest peak in the Tehachapi Mountains is Double Mountain, at an altitude of 7988 feet (2435 meters). At the east end is Tehachapi Pass , at 3793 feet (1156 meters).
